Baby Handprint Poem

Baby handprint poems are a perfect way to treasure those priceless baby memories.

Little Hand

There's almost nothing sweeter
Than a footprint in the sand
Except perhaps, the tiny shape
Of a baby's little hand.

Each little tiny finger
Is so perfect in itself
I'll place this little handprint
Right here upon my shelf.

I know that time is passing
And you'll grow with every year
But always will it be so small,
The handprint I have here.

When Jacob brough home a painting of his handprint on a big piece of white paper I could not help but think back on the day I made his first handprint when he was a baby. It was then that I realized how fast time passes by. All of the memories of making his first handprints seemed like it was just yesterday. The preperation of the paint and wanting the perfect print so I could cherish it forever seemed like it was the only thing thata mattered at the time.

Now that Jacob is 4 years old I realized how quickly time goes by. I have the two handprints to compare and can hardly believe how much he has grown and how much he has learned. I also know that this is just a stepping stone and that one day I will see his hands draw pictures in elementary school, write essays in high school and college and maybe even play an instrument, and all of this began with those little handprints.

I am very grateful that our friend Andra wrote this beautiful baby handprint poem. Once again, I attached it to the back of Jacob's handprint. My friend Heather framed it and hung it on the way, in her daughter's Gabriela's nursery. It's up to you what you do with it, just make sure that you cherish it as much as we do.
