Baby Kiss

To reason with a baby,
Is to reason with a wall,
It’s becoming pretty clear,
They can’t be reasoned with at all!

A baby is going to do,
Just what a baby does,
It’s all a baby ever is,
They're that way just because.

There is one tiny comfort,
In knowing all of this:
What will brighten up your day?
One tiny baby kiss.

Shortly after giving birth to my daughter I was super exhauseted and all I wanted to do was go to bed and fall asleep when she fell asleep. Well I knew that this could not happen because my three year old son needed her mommy. After I explained to him that I was going to go for a nap and maybe he should join me he replied by saying, "mommy don't worry, you go to sleep and I will watch some toons on T.V. and if I need you I will call you".

I could not believe that this was my three year old son speaking to me. It seemed that just yesterday he was a tiny baby and I begged him to just sleep for 3 hours during the night before he woke up for his feeding. Now I was able to reason with him at the age of three and be able to get some rest not only with one child but get some sleep with two children.

This seemed like too good to be true and someone told me that it was not too good to be true and that it was just God showing you that children can be reasoned with before they reach teenagehood.

I hope you enjoyed reading my little story along with the poem, here on the free baby poems page.
