New Baby Poems
The new baby poems written by our dear friend Andra are very cute and adorable. Share them with your friends and family, and of course your newborn baby.
Eat and Sleep
A newborn thinks of only two things:
"I must eat and I surely must sleep.
And to help you along, I like milk when it’s warm,
And if I’m sleeping, don't make a peep!"
Babies might sound very cranky,
But it’s better to go with the flow,
You’d be cranky, too, if all you could do,
Was to think of the two things you know!
So give babies some slack, and back off a bit,
It’s truly the right thing to do.
Just wait and be patient and give them some time,
Until the things that they know equal more than just two.

I remember the day I brought my daughter home from the hospital. I went directly to her nursery and showed her where she would be spending most of her time. Which would consist of mostly just sleeping and eating for the first few months.
Then I remember telling her as I put her in her crib that I was going to be right back because I just had to go and use the washroom. Well as soon as I left I heard a loud cry and I could not run into her nursery fast enough and when I looked into the crib I saw my precious baby sucking on her thumb.
I thought to myself that she could not possibly be hungry considering that she just ate two hours ago. So I gave it a try and started to feed her. To my surprise she ate as if she had not eaten for days. When I went to put her down for the night I soon realized that with babies there is no putting a baby down for the night.
Nights would consist of waking up every 2 to 3 hours and changing diapers, feeding and burping and then before you are able to fall asleep you have to wake up to do it all over again. In the morning when I was woken up at about 6 am looking at my daughter's wide smiling eyes I would forget about the sleepless night and could not wait to start our day doing the two tasks all over again.
I do not know that these new baby poems that Andra wrote definitely helped me a lot. Since Andra has older children, these baby poems that she would write were like little guide books. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and still do.
Yours Truly,
Cynthia Cook
On The Day You Were Born
On the day you were born I held you so tight,
Your skin was so soft, and I never felt so right.
I never knew I could love something so much,
But then I felt your loving touch.
Needless to say I was in love,
I swear you came from many heavens above.
You came home in nothing but blue.
And I swear ever since my love just grew.
Your first smile melted my heart.
The way you look at me I know you’re so smart.
From your wiggles to your laughter,
I swear this is happily ever after.
I know there will be many firsts for my little joy.
Today is your first birthday I love you baby BOY!
