Interesting Time

What is going on here?
It's cold out here and loud!
I can’t make out a single face,
Not one amongst the crowd.

I think I hear my mommy’s voice,
But it’s really hard to say,
I'm having such an interesting time,
Trying to enjoy my new birthday!

Ah, now someone has me that smells really nice,
Yes, this one I can keep.
I hope she doesn’t mind if I close my eyes,
And drift...off...to...sleep....

I think that it is so funny when people look at your newborn baby and say "oh, look he just smiled at me". As a parent you don't want to crush their dreams and say "well actually they are too little to recognize anyone" and if they were able to recognize anyone they certainly would not be smiling at the person who washed themselves in perfume this morning because even as an adult you have a difficult time being nice about it.

I have heard all the different ways babies recognize their parents like through their sense of smell. I had someone tell me that if I wanted my baby to fall asleep without me rocking him for hours I should put one of my shirts into the crib with my son. They said that he will sense my smell and he will think that I am there with him and he will fall asleep.

Well I decided to try out this method (and when you average out about 3-4 hours of sleep a night a parent will try anything in order to get their baby to sleep better). The following morning I have come to the conclusion that I should just try to stick to my old method of having my baby close to me during the night because I am sure that once he smells me and hears my voice he feels safe and secure.

In Addition, I don't think that the shirt in the crib thing is very safe. Looking back at it, it may even be a strangulation hazard. Was was I thinking?

Well, thanks for stopping by our scrapbooking poems new baby page. We hope you had fun.
