Welcome to the World
Welcome to the world, my friend,
You’re in for quite a treat.
There are lots of people that love you here,
And there are more for you to meet!
It is a giant world out there,
But you will find your place,
And I hope that you will live your life,
With love and kindness and grace.
But all that is for another day,
So you just sleep all curled,
For now, just know that you are safe,
And welcome to the world.

It seems that when a women is expecting, she plans for all the special moments that will come with having a baby. I remember being at the hospital and after the tiring and lengthy delivery I was left alone with my new baby daughter. I remember thinking that wow it is just the two of us in a light purple room with the only noise being the rain drops hitting the window pane.
All I could do is whisper to my daughter "welcome sweetheart, welcome". I could not guarantee many things however I could promise her that I would love her unconditionally. Sure we would go through good times and bad times, but we would go through these things together, with support and love.
I promised that I will do everything in my power to teach her everything I know and encourage her to learn the things I do not. And just then I realized that we had a lifetime to discover new things. At that moment the only thing that mattered most was to sleep and rest and look forward to a beautiful life with my precious new baby.
I really like the welcome baby poems that my dear friend Andra has written. The one that you see above is among my very favorite.
Yours Truly,
